PAL tape outgest

Files in our standard PAL master formats (IMX50 for SD, or XDCAM HD422 for HD) can be output to PAL tape by using a Tape Shipping Order on our platform. The following tape formats are available:

  • HDCAM SR PAL 50i
  • HDCAM PAL 50i
  • Digital Betacam PAL 50i
  • Betacam SP PAL 50i

Placing a Tape Shipping Order

To start the outgest process, go to Material > Orders and click New Order > Tape shipping, then follow the steps of the order wizard:

  1. Choose content: select the catalog entries you’d like to outgest files from. Simply start entering a title and search suggestions will be shown. Selecting a parent entry (such as a Series) will select all associated entries (such as Episodes). You can add as many entries as you’d like.
    For each entry you’ve added, a dropdown menu will appear. From this menu, select the file you’d like to deliver.Only files conforming to our standard formats IMX50 PAL MXF or XDCAM HD422 PAL MXF will be displayed, as only they are eligible for PAL tape outgest.To output multiple files from one catalog entry, simply add the same catalog entry multiple times.
    Once you’ve made your selection, click Next.

Step 1: add content

  • Configure tapes: you will be presented with an overview of your selected files (left) and the proposed tape configurations (right). For each tape, use the Tape format dropdown to select the tape type. Furthermore, modify the Timecode in value in case it should not be 10:00:00:00. You may also enter an Additional label to be printed on the tape.
    Optionally, you can output multiple files to a single tape (provided that the total duration doesn’t exceed 120 minutes). To do so, delete a file from a tape (using the trashcan icon) and then drag-and-drop it to a different tape. When output onto one tape, multiple files will be separated by 60 seconds of black. If required, you can also add additional tapes using the “+” icon in the top right corner.each tape will start with a technical lead-in (90 seconds color bars/1 kHz tone, then 30 seconds black). Your file will then start at the timecode you’ve selected. No slates, countdowns or additional panels can be inserted.
    Afterwards, click Next again.

  • Enter shipping address: specify the delivery address (or select it from your Address book by clicking the respective icons).
    By default, mediapeers will deliver your tape(s) via DHL Express and bill the cost to you. If you’d like to use your own carrier or one belonging to the recipient, you may use the Carrier and Carrier account fields to specify this.If you’d like mediapeers to cover your shipping costs for now, don’t choose any carrier other than MPX default (DHL Express). mediapeers cannot deliver via FedEx, UPS, TNT or other carriers unless you provide your own carrier account.

  • Review and submit: review your tape outgest. Optionally you can add an Shipping instructions for our dispatch department as well as an Accounting reference which will be mentioned in your invoice.
    Click Submit to start the tape outgest and subsequent delivery.Manager, Affiliation admin only
    Alternatively, click Save to save all details (but not place the order).

  • You will receive an automated confirmation email for your placed order.
  • Once all tapes have been shipped, you will receive another email. This email will include tracking details for your package (in case you’re using an express carrier or recorded delivery).
    The Material > Orders tab will also be updated with tracking information, plus a direct tracking link if available.
  • Depending on the volume of your order and general traffic in our lab, typically allow 1-3 business days for tape outgest and dispatch. When outgesting to Betacam SP, allow an additional 1-2 business days. Shipping duration will depend on the chosen carrier and delivery destination; most express carriers take 1-3 business days to common destinations (excluding customs delays or unforeseeable circumstances). If in doubt, please consult your carrier directly.
