MediaStore differentiates between two fundamental types of accounts:
- Company accounts represent one entire company and can comprise one or several User accounts.
- User accounts represent single users. Each User account belongs to one Company account.A User account is unique by its email address, i.e. the same email address cannot be used for two different User accounts.
Additionally, there is a differentiation between two different types of Company accounts:
- Your seller Company account comprises all your colleagues as seller Users and can be used to access the seller view of the platform. The seller view gives you a backend perspective of the platform, allowing you to use MediaStore’s full functionality, e.g. enter metadata, upload files, manage user access and market and deliver content. There is usually only a single seller Company account. Any colleagues wishing to use the platform’s full array of functions need to be added to this account (and should not register for a separate buyer Company account). When setting up external agents, consider inviting them as seller Users within your seller Company account using the Agent role, rather than as buyer Users in separate buyer Company accounts.
- Buyer Company accounts comprise your clients as buyer Users. Once the registration process has been completed, they get access to a separate buyer view of the platform. This is primarily designed for marketing purposes, allowing your clients to browse and screen content. It doesn’t feature any of the administrative backend functions.
